Description of obverse and reverse The reverse of the coin was inspired by the strong, historic links between the British monarchy and the Forces as well as the fact that The Queen and members of her family have all served in the Armed Forces. The Tri-Service Badge is the key focus of the design: a royal crown placed above the eagle for the Royal Air Force, the Anchor for the Royal Navy and the crossed swords for the British Army is a perfect symbol of The Queen’s role as Head of the Armed Forces. The quote from The Queen is an excerpt from her message to the troops on the first Armed Forces Day, 27 June 2009. All coins in The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Collection carry a portrait of The Queen on the obverse and the date and denomination. Both the Official UK Diamond Jubilee coins bear obverses of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
A brief annotation The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on 6 February 2012 is a remarkable moment in British history. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Collection will mark this historic moment forever. The Queen has always cherished her role as Head of the Armed Forces. She served in the Army in the Second World War and still takes an active interest receiving regular briefings. She also frequently makes time to meet servicemen and women of all ranks.
