Description of obverse and reverse | Obverse: the coin bears the portrait of the Royal Couple of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Reverse: the reverse features the Royal Wedding logo, the national National Emblem which symbolize the blessings showered on the Royal Union and the Prayers for the prosperity of the Wangchuck Dynasty. The wedding logo embodies the symbolic Khorlo (wheel, signifiying the Royalty. The two circles with the Dhar (Ceremonial Scarf), signifies the Eternal Union of Thap (Method) and Sherab (Wisdom). |
A brief annotation | In celebration of their wedding, a beautiful portrait of the happy couple is captured in eternity on the obverse of the coin. The Royal Wedding of His Majesty and Her Majesty has been held on 13 October 2011. His majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck took the helm of the Dragon Kingdom on 14 December, 2006. In 2008, the kind was officially crowned as the Fifth Hereditary King of Bhutan. His personal dedication and commitment towards improving the quality of lives of the Bhutanese people earned him a place in the heart of every Bhutanese as the “Peopleёs King”. Her Majesty the Queen Jetsum Pema is the second eldest among five children and has been educated in Bhutan, India and the UK. |
