Description of obverse and reverse | Obverse: stylized pictures of stars, moon and feather – interpretation of the poem “Serenade” by Misaq Metsarents; at the top - the year of issue “2011”; along the rim - inscription “CENTRAL BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in Armenian; at the bottom - the nominal value “10000 DRAM”. Reverse: the poet’s portrait; on the right side - vertical inscriptions “MISAQ METSARENTS” in Armenian and the dates of the poet’s birth and death “1886” and “1908”, which are separated from the name by a vertical line. |
A brief annotation | This coin commemorates the 125-th anniversary of Misaq Metsarents’s birth. Misaq Metsarents (1886 - 1908) is a famous Armenian poet. Metsarents’s literary inheritance involves more than 130 lyrics, dozens of short stories and poems in prose, several literary-critical articles. The poetical art of Metsarents refers to classic romanticism and symbolism. He is one of the best singers of nature in Armenian poetry. Metsarents translated metrical and narrative poems of West-European and Russian writers. |
