Description of obverse and reverse The reverse side of these commemorative euro coins is similar to that of ordinary coins, while the collector image is on the national obverse side. As is traditional, the national side of the 2011 Finnish commemorative two-euro coin draws on Finnish history, as the elegant swan symbolises the 200-year-old Bank of Finland.
A brief annotation The 2011 two euro special coin that is also known as “Swan Coin” turned out to be one of the most popular coins of Mint of Finland in 2011. For centuries the swan has stood for what it means to be a Finn. Finnish swan, the national bird of Finland, as the coin’s motif, captures the essence of the event the coin was minted for to honor. The coin commemorates the Bank of Finland’s 200th anniversary. The Finnish nation achieved a landmark success in 1811 when the Bank of Finland was founded.
