A brief annotation | The main idea of the series (and each coin) is to depict flowers that are growing wild in Armeniean forests, meadows, fields etc. This is a unique design where one side of the coin continues on to the other side of the coin (from reverse through the rim to the obverse). Crocus Adamii has a small corm with leathery tunics. Flowers are pale to dark lilac, 3-5 cm across and with yellow-orange throat. Leaves appear during blooming time. Crocus blooms from February to May, on stony or grassy slopes, bushes and open juniper forests at 1000-2900 m. It is common in Central and South Armenia and Artsakh. |
