Mintage | Showcasing authentic Aboriginal artwork, the reverse design featured on the Turtle Dreaming coins is inspired by the artist’s memories of a hunting trip in the north of Western Australia, when he was a boy. The design comprises a turtle surrounded by patterns of dots, symbolising the hunter’s journey, and circles, representing the places where the hunters stopped. Coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. Obvrse: Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA 2008”, the year-date of issue, the monetary denomination, and the weight and purity of the metal from which each coin is struck. |
