Description of obverse and reverse | Obverse: in the center – the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia with the nominal value and the year of issue underneath; on the right – metal and alloy marking, on the left – the mint sign; along the upper rim – inscriptions “REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in Armenian and English, along the lower rim – fruits and leaves of four types of trees. On obverse of each coin the fruits of a certain type of the tree are pad-printed. Reverse: in the center of the each coin type – a certain type of the tree; along the lower rim – a name of the tree in English. |
A brief annotation | The “Hundred Horse Chestnut” is the oldest and the biggest chestnut tree in the world. It is located at the eastern slope of the Mount Etna in Sicily (Italy). The age of the tree is 2000 - 4000 years. It is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the tree with the greatest circumference (57,9 m in 1780). |
