On the left – a semicircular inscription «ELIZABETH II». On the right - another semicircular inscription «AUSTRALIA 2013». The reverse: in the center there is an image of the Sydney Opera House. In the upper part – the face value «1 DOLLAR». At the bottom there is an inscription in three lines – «40th Anniversary of Sydney Opera House» and the logo of UNESCO. |
| A brief annotation | The Royal Australian Mint, Sydney Opera House and UNESCO are proud to unveil a new coin design dedicated to the fortieth anniversary of one of the world’s most recognisable and busiest performing arts centuries. Sydney Opera House is a symbol of Australia's largest city: the roof of the theater makes this building unlike any one else in the world. It was inaugurated on October 20, 1973 by Queen Elizabeth II. The theater is located in Sydney Harbour, its architect Jorn Utzon is Dane. The theatre construction lasted 14 years and cost the treasury 102 million Australian dollars. Theater covers an area of 2.2 hectares. Its length is 185 m, width - 120 m. The building based on 580 piles, its weight is 161 tons. Sydney Opera House is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
