Description of obverse and reverse | Obverse: effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS. The text reads «BRITISH ANTARCTIC TERRITORY 2013». Reverse: the design shows the Halley VI Research Station in the icy Antarctic landscape. |
A brief annotation | Run by the British Antarctic Survey, the Halley Research Station is located on the Burnt Ice Shelf floating on the Weddell Sea in Antarctica and is dedicated to the study of the Earth’s atmosphere. Halley VI has been operational from February 2012 and its structure is jacked up on legs to keep it above the accumulation of snow. It was officially opened on 5th February 2013. Very few coins are issued from the British Antarctic Territory and this unusual structure with its swirling Antarctic landscape looks exceptionally futuristic. |

Проблематично представить исполненную на реверсе станцию. Одно запоминается - страна эмитент.

Станция явно не удалась, больше на корабли из "война миров" напоминает

Ну, зато монета дает знать о существовании научно-исследовательской станции Халли VI.
