Description of obverse and reverse | Obverse: there is a portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. At the top there is the semicircular inscription «QUEEN ELIZABETH II». In the lower part there is another semicircular inscription: «1OZ 999 SILVER», «2013» «TUVALU 1 DOLLAR». Reverse: there is an image of the ghost ship soaring over the water surrounded by lightning. In the lower part there is a semicircular inscription in «THE FLYING DUTCHMAN». |
A brief annotation | «Flying Dutchman» is a legendary ghost ship which was destined not to hit the beach, so it was doomed to play the seas forever. To meet this sailboat was considered a bad omen for sailors. It usually appeared surrounded by a luminous halo. |
