Description of obverse and reverse

7 out of 8 half-round surfaces depict consecutive days of Creation: separating light from darkness, dividing waters above and under the firmament, creating land and plants, Sun, Moon and stars, creating flying animals and sea creatures, land animals and the man. The last surface, standing for the last day of Creation, features an icon of Christ Pantocrator from a church mural in Riverside, California.

Obverse: Centrally – effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Below it – initials of the sculptor: «IRB» (Ian Rank-Broadley), mint mark: «m/w». Along the rim – inscriptions – «Ag 999» (hallmark), «NIUE ISLAND» (issuer), «ELIZABETH II», «5 DOLLARS» (face value), «2019» (year of issue).

A brief annotation

Half-round surfaces of the coin depict metaphorical images of particular days of creation, forming the chronology of events: from separating the light from darkness on the 1st day, to blessing the work of Creation on the 7th day. Rotating the coin by its diameter and admiring consecutive days of God’s Creation make it a truly unforgettable artistic experience.
