Yerevan is the 12th capital of historical Armenia.
The territory of Yerevan has been inhabited since the ancient times. In 782 BC, during the flourishing of the Urartian kingdom, King Argishti A founded the Erebuni fortress - Yerevan of our days.
The architectural monuments of different periods, remnants of material culture and bibliographical references testify to the ongoing existence of life in the city. Yerevan had repeatedly been subjected to attacks by foreign invaders, but had resisted and remained standing.
Nowadays, Yerevan is presented to the world as one of the symbols of Armenian statehood and national identity.
