Description of obverse and reverse
This product consists of a set of 13 puzzle-shaped coins, surrounding a central coin, with the reverse of each piece featuring sepia-toned gold-plated reproductions of historic photographs capturing icons of life during the first 50 years of Canada’s existence as an independent nation.

Their obverse features the effigy of Canada’s current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. The large central coin features a selectively gold plated illustration of the original Parliament building, which was destroyed by fire in 1916. On its obverse are the effigies of the three monarchs who were Canada’s head of state during that period.
A brief annotation
This set symbolizes the larger puzzle that is the story of Canada, told during the first 50 years of our nation. Each image, from the interlocking outer pieces to the central coin, represent a different theme from a genuine archival photo: Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first Prime Minister; the Northwest Mounted Police; agriculture; the Klondike Gold Rush; forestry; the Canadian Pacific Railway; Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier; Canada’s 8th governor-general and his wife, Lord and Lady Minto; a horse-drawn Royal Mail cart; the fishing industry;
