The photograph by Kari Auvinen. Designer Erkki Vainio
Description of obverse and reverse
On the obverse is the year of issue, denomination and country.
The reverse: the full moon on the lighthouse island of Harmaja, a crow gazing from its perch – the design of the Finnish Nature collector coin is based on the winning shot in the Blue and White special category of the Nature Photograph of the Year contest. The winning photograph was shot by Kari Auvinen.
The crow symbolises the modern Finnish character – an outwardly common but intelligent bird that reacts flexibly to new situations.
A brief annotation
