Description of obverse and reverse
The obverse shows a portrait of the writer holding a smoking pipe in his hand. Through the tobacco smoke you can see silhouettes of Huckleberry Finn and Jim, traveling on a raft along the Mississippi. On the right, along the edge of the coin, is a semicircular inscription - "LIBERTY". The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is engraved below, the year of issue - "2016" and the mint mark - "P" are also indicated on the obverse. On the reverse there is a stylized image of Mark Twain’s characters: a knight from the novel "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", frogs from the collection of stories "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", Jim and Huck from "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". At the upper part of the coin is a semicircle inscription - "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". On the right is the face value - "$ 1". At the lower part in a semicircle is engraved - "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (one from many).

Mark Twain (real name - Samuel L. Clemens, 1835-1910) is an American journalist, writer, orator and humanist. His works, such as autobiographical stories “Life on the Mississippi”, novels “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, The Prince and the Pauper”, and others are still popular throughout the world.
