A brief annotation
The Russian Historical Society was founded in 1866 at the initiative of prominent Russian historians and military and government officials. The Society’s key area of focus was to collect, edit and publish materials on the history of the Russian State, beginning with the Primary Chronicle of Nestor the Chronicler. In 2012 the Russian Historical Society was re-established to foster the formation of a national historical culture, thus maintaining the continuity of the Society’s traditions.
