A brief annotation
The Spaso-Eleasarovsky Monastery was founded by the St. Euphrosyne in 1425 about 25 kilometers north of Pskov. The monastery was named “Eleazarovsky” in memory of its founder, who took the monastic name of Eleazar. The main cathedral of the monastery – The Three Holy Fathers Cathedral, was built probably in the XVI century. It is triapsidal, four-pillared, with one dome, has a chapel of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the beginning of the XX century and a new chapel of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth, arranged in 2000 in the basement. There is a bell-tower built out to the Cathedral which has indistinctive type of architecture for that period. On that time it was typical for Pskov churches to have a belfry above the porches. The bell tower of the Cathedral is of a hexagon shape and has wide openings for the bells.
