Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse: in the center – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus and the inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ, at the bottom – the face value 20 RUBLEЎ; around the Emblem – a stylized circular wreath of leaves and flowers of cornflower and clover, symbolizing the inflorescence of crafts, closely woven together in infinity circle (a symbol of longevity and happiness); on the left – the year of issue, on the right – the fineness.
Reverse: in the center against stylized Belarusian rural landscape – the image of a pitcher of water, on the left – women with buckets, on the right - rustic huts, at the top – the inscription ГАНЧАРСТВА.
A brief annotation
Pottery is the oldest handicrafts making of clay household and decorative items. On the territory of Belarus pottery known from the Neolithic period (IV-III centuries BC), when hand-made dishes and toys appeared. Pottery traditions continue to live in crafts to present day in Belarus. The last decade has formed a national school of professional ceramics. Souvenirs made of clay can be found in homes and apartments, museums and theaters.
