A brief annotation
This gorgeous coin is dedicated to charity for which Russian monarchs were famous. The most prominent in this field was Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna Romanova, who was also the patron of Russian Red Cross. In all large cities across the Russian Empire she founded hospitals and orphanages. The greatest institutions established by her are presented on the obverse of the coin.
The reverse of the coin depicts Empress Maria Feodorovna and her husband Tsar Alexander III, to whom she was married for 28 years giving birth to six children. Among them was Nicholas II, the future Tsar and the last monarch of the Russian Empire.
