Description of obverse and reverse
The obverse: in the centre - the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it - the semicircular inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim - on top: "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), below: to the left - indications of the precious metal and its fineness, in the centre - the year of issue "2012 г." (2012), to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark. The reverse: in the centre on the mirror field - relief portraits of K. Minin and D. Pozharsky, over them - the flying banner with the image of Christ on it, under the portraits on a oval cartouche - the horizontal inscription in two lines made in stylized cursive: "НАРОДНОЕ ОПОЛЧЕНИЕ" (PEOPLE'S VOLUNTEER CORPS), to the right and to the left of the portraits - two vertical matted segments covered by decorative ornaments, on the lower part of the right segment - the date: "1612".
A brief annotation
The coin is devoted to the 400th Anniversary of the Second People’s Voluntary Corps which under command of K. Minin and D. Pozharsky advanced from Nizhny Novgorod and in October 1612, after two months long siege liberated Moscow from the Poles and put by that an end to the period of discord.
