A brief annotation
The Fontana di Trevi is the most popular and with its height of 26 meters and width of 50 meters the largest fountain in Rome and one of the most famous fountains in the world. It was constructed between 1732 and 1762 in Baroque style according to a design by Nicola Salvi. It is one of the most famous landmaks of Rome. This unique fountain has an ancient history. Its origins go back to Roman times and it was the terminal point of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct commissioned by Augustus, which was used to provide water for the thermal baths. The water that flows here has two names: Virgin Waters and Trevi. The first refers to an ancient legend about a young Roman girl who showed the source of the spring to some thirsty soldiers; whereas Trevi derives from the old name for the area, which was originally called Trebium. A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome, two coins will lead to a new romance and three will ensure a marriage with that person. The product celebrates the 250th Anniversary of this famous landmark.
