Obverse: at the top is a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; on the right is an inscription in two lines: «РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ»; in the center is a fragment of the title page of the manuscript «Людзі на балоце» by the Belarusian writer Ivan Melezh; at the bottom is the nominal value: «20 РУБЛЁЎ», year of manufacture, alloy sample.

Reverse: in the center there is a full–length portrait of the writer against the background of a stylized landscape; on the right there is an inscription in two lines: «Ivan Melezh», the years of his life: «1921-1976».
