A brief annotation
The Vakhtangov Theatre is a drama theatre in Moscow. The history of the theatre began in 1921, when the play ‘The Miracle of Saint Anthony’ (directed by Eugene Vakhtangov) was performed in the Arbat building. In 1922, the Vakhtangov Theatre company played the premier of ‘Princess Turandot’, which was destined to become the theatre’s hallmark for many years to come. In the 20th century, the Vakhtangov Theatre was managed by legendary theatre directors and actors, such as Ruben Simonov, Eugene Simonov and Mikhail Ulyanov. Since 2007, Rimas Tuminas has been the artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theatre. The theatre tours extensively in Russia and abroad. Theatre lovers in many countries especially favour ‘Eugene Onegin’, ‘Uncle Vanya’, ‘The Masquerade’, ‘Give Us a Smile, O Lord’, ‘Mademoiselle Nitouche’, ‘Minetti’, etc.
