Anubis is a god in Egyptian mythology and is often depicted as a man with a jackal’s head, as a jackal, or crowned with a wax sceptre. Anubis was the protector of the dead and he made sure that they did not destroy them. Before Osiris became important, Anubis was the most important god of all. The god is often depicted in the Hall of Truth, where the soul of the deceased was weighed. He was often portrayed alongside Osiris and Thoth.
