Description of obverse and reverse
The reverse design by Canadian artist Alex Tirabasso is a realistic reproduction of a poppy, the flower of remembrance; enhanced with an antique finish, it features four overlapping petals that gently curve outward from the stigma disk at the centre.
The obverse’s coin-shaped base features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
A brief annotation
By reproducing the floral inspiration for the poem In Flanders Fields, our 2020 Remembrance Day tribute honors all who have served and those who continue to serve our country in the name of peace and freedom. Their sacrifices continue to be remembered by Canadians every November 11, as communities across the country hold ceremonies honouring veterans and our fallen.
