Description of obverse and reverse
The reverse design by Canadian artist Trevor Tennant marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War with two symbols of the war: a large “V” for Victory and a field of poppies. Selective colour highlights the flowers of remembrance that line a v-shaped pathway. Above them, rays of sunlight streaming through the clouds are an expression of hope for a brighter, peaceful future.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
A brief annotation
This coin celebrates the end of the Second World War in 1945 with the letter V (for victory), an inspirational symbol of support for the Allied war effort. 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of the unconditional surrender of German and Japanese forces to Canada and its allies. The field of poppies commemorates Remembrance Day, when Canada honours its veterans and fallen every November 11. This coin was part of a 4-part series celebrating major milestones of the year. These affordable coins are designed to encourage new collectors with an affordable subscription.
