On the reverse of the coins there is an image of a sculptural portrait of Abay Kunanbayev, a stylized image of an inkwell and a pen made on coins made of silver and nickel silver using the technology of interference rainbow image. To the right of the portrait is an ornamental ribbon in the form of a decoration of the Kazakh yurt (baskur), under which is situated the inscription "1845-2020", indicating the year of birth, the date of celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev and at the same time the year of coinage. On the right part there is the inscription "31,1 g" denoting the mass of metal. At the top of the coin are the inscriptions "175" and "JYL". In the left part-an element of the national ornament, on the silver coin-the inscription "Ag 925", indicating the metal from which the coin is made and its sample. At the bottom of the coin is an inscription in Latin script "ABAI".
