Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse: The central motif shows a symbolic representation of János Harsányi’s idea of which he received the Nobel Memorial Prize in 1994.

The obverse shows a triangular, endless set of stairs representing a hierarchical structure. It could be seen that a railing breaks the circular line surrounding the central motif on the left. In addition, a ladder is emerging from the centre of the stairs on the right. The compulsory elements of the collector coins are also placed on the obverse side. The reverse side introduces the recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with a portrait of János Harsányi as the central motif. Moreover, his name is lettered on the left and right sides of his portrait as well as the indication of the year of his birth and death.
A brief annotation
The coin was issued on the 100th anniversary of János Harsányi’s birth to commemorate his professional achievements on the field of economics. His primary field of research was game theory of which he was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for the results he achieved in incomplete information games in 1994 as a co-recipient with John Forbes Nash and Reinhard Selten. János Harsányi’s game theory results have had impacts on the entire field of economics and people’s everyday lives until today. Its effects on arms control and disarmament and spectrum auctions are still present.
