Coin’s
reverse features a central stylised representation of two firefights standing back to back. Each firefighter holds a different hose to symbolise both the urban and rural fire services. Water streams extend from both hoses beyond the coin rim. Behind the two figures are stylised representations of flames. The centre of the coin features a stylised ball of flames.
A strong and semi symmetrical design aesthetics has been chosen to highlight the ‘hero’ statues that firefighters hold in the community. The identity of the two firefighters is hidden but the figure on the right is shown as masculine and the figure on the left as feminie as a symbol of the diversity within Australia’s firefighting ranks.
