A brief annotation
Australia’s beloved bush balladeer, Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson, is celebrated in this beautiful aluminium bronze 2020 50 cent uncirculated coin depicting his classic poem Waltzing Matilda.

Paterson wrote Waltzing Matilda, which became Australia’s best-known folk song, while he was staying with friends at Dagworth Station, Queensland, in 1895. Legend has it that he fitted the words to the Scottish tune The Bonnie Woods of Craigielea.
