Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse: on the right-hand side, the image of the Eagle established as the state emblem of the Republic of Poland. At the bottom, on the left, an image of a paratrooper descending with a parachute; an open canopy of the parachute at the top. In the background, lines symbolizing the lines of an opened parachute, forming arches near the edge of the coin symbolizing an open parachute canopy.
Reverse: centrally, an image of the parachute symbol with the emblem of Fighting Poland placed in the centre of the wreath. In the background, 316 birds symbolizing 316 Cichociemni Paratroopers. Along the rim, the inscription: «75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST DROP OF THE CICHOCIEMNI PARATROOPERS», and at the bottom, three birds symbolizing the first three paratroopers. Under the inscription, a circular border made up of arches.
A brief annotation
The first group of the Cichociemni (Silent Unseen) – the soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces trained in the United Kingdom and redeployed into the territory of occupied Poland as support for the cadre of the Union of Armed Struggle (ZWZ), later to become the Home Army (AK) –lands on the territory of occupied Poland in the night of 15 and 16 February 1941. This is the first redeployment of paratroopers from the United Kingdom to the Continent. By December 1944, 316 Cichociemni paratroopers and 28 couriers are deployed to Poland.
