Description of obverse and reverse
The main element of the obverse of the coin is an image of a flower executed by the pad printing technology. A flower is depicted against a mountain landscape. In the upper part of the coin there is an inscription with the name of the coin «Айгүл гүлү» (Aigul flower) in the Kyrgyz language and the Latin name of the species – «Fritillaria eduardii Regel». The coin denomination (10 Som) is specified at the bottom. The alloy of metal (Ag 925°) is specified on the left side, the weight of the coin (28, 28 g) is given on the right side.
The reverse side of the coin illustrates the coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic in the center of a stylized ornamental pattern. In the upper part of the coin there is an inscription «Кыргызстандын Кызыл китеби» («Red Book of Kyrgyzstan»), and the year of coin issue (2016) is at the bottom.
A brief annotation
Aigul flower in the Russian translation is «Moon flower», the scientific name of the flower is Fritillaria Edward (Fritillaria eduardii Regel). In Kyrgyzstan, it is widespread in the Turkestan mountain range. Aigul is a beautiful decorative flower of one meter high. The shoots of Aigul flower grow out only after seven years and the first flower appears after next seven years. Every year, one more bright orange flower bud appears, the age of the flower can be determined by the number of flower buds. Another feature of this amazing flower is that it grows on unsunned side of the mountain. The beauty and elegance of Aigul flower are not the only its advantages, it is also used in folk medicine. The сollection coin has been issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic in order to promote and preserve of flora rare species of the country, listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
