In the center of the obverse of the coin there is a composition symbolizing the unity of man and the universe, the connection of the past and the present. In the center of the reverse of the coin there is an image of the spacecraft "Venera-10" approaching the planet Venus.

The spacecraft "Venera-10" was launched on June 14, 1975, by a launch vehicle "Proton". On October 25, 1975, a lander of the automatic station "Venera-10" made a soft landing on the illuminated side of the planet in 2200 km from the landing place of “Venus-9”. Video images of the Venus surface were transferred from the lander to Earth. An orbital unit of "Venera-10" station, meanwhile, went into orbit around Venus.
