The Lithuanian Mint mark is also impressed. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag.
The common side (reverse) of the coin is the same as on the regular €2 circulation coins. The edge lettering is the same as on the regular €2 circulation coins issued by Lithuania: “LAISVĖ.VIENYBĖ.GEROVĖ”
(Freedom. Unity. Well-being).
A brief annotation
The Lithuanian language is not only one of the 24 official languages of the European Union, but it is also one of the most archaic European languages, belonging to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. The spelling system in Lithuania is user-friendly and logical since it is essential based on phonetics – one sound corresponds to one letter, therefore reading in Lithuanian is much simpler than in other languages. The Lithuanian language is truly melodious and rich. It is no coincidence that one of the most important and most popular Lithuanian words – Ačiū – is one the national side of this coin.
