Description of obverse and reverse
On the obverse, the map of Brazil is cut out from a pattern composed of elements of indigenous flora and fauna. The inscription “FIFATM World Cup” and the logo of the tournament - a symbolic version of the trophy of the FIFATM World Cup - appear at the centre of this map. On the reverse, the Maracanã stadium is shown in aerial view and the face value is inscribed on a ball that seems to spring from the ground. On the ?10 silver coin and the ?200 gold coin, the obverse side is curved, giving the stadium a cauldron-like appearance.
A brief annotation
2014 will mark the 20th annual FIFATM World Cup, bringing together the best of Nations football team. The final match of this competition will take place during the summer 2014 in Brazil and will be held in the grand Maracanã Stadium with its 75 117 seats. After 1950, this will be the second time that this event takes place in Brazil. To commemorate this international championship, Monnaie de Paris has decided to strike five prestigious coins. Both the ?200 gold coin and the ?10 silver coin have the unique feature of a domed shape imitating the shape of a football stadium.
