Description of obverse and reverse
The main plot of the coin is the image of an eagle owl executed by technology of the tampon printing, against a mountain landscape of Kyrgyzstan. The following elements are specified of the front side of the coin: the coin name in the Kyrgyz language, the Latin name of a species, the alloy and weight of metal (Ag 925/28, 28) and the denomination of the coin (10 Som). The reverse side shows stylized images of fauna of Kyrgyzstan, the name of the series in the Kyrgyz language, the national emblem of the Kyrgyz Republic and the year of coin issue (2014).
A brief annotation
Eagle owl is an important, irreplaceable and moreover fine part of our mountain ecosystems. Can be met in ridges, intermountain hollows, and they nest in the middle mountains and highlands, rising up to 3000 m above the sea level. This bird is enlisted in the Red book of Kyrgyzstan contains national endangered species. The Latin name “Bubo bubo” – a night carnivorous bird. The large size, mainly red coloring of coat with longitudinal dark spots on a breast and striated drawing on wings, big “ears” and orange eyes make an eagle recognizable. Length of a body reaches 60-75 cm, wingspan-160-190cm, weight – from 2 to 3, 2 kg.
