The collector coin's obverse depicts the Mademoiselle chair, iconic chair designed by Tapiovaara. The reverse features a map of the world, with Tapiovaara's destinations of 1937, 1952, 1958, 1964 and 1974 – France, the United States, Paraguay, the Soviet Union, and Mauritius – marked with sectors and dates spreading outwards from Finland.

Designer and interior architect Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999) is one of the most renowned Finnish designers. His most famous designs include the Domus and Mademoiselle chairs. Tapiovaara’s work was based on ideas of social responsibility and democracy. He was also the first Finnish designer to be active in the field of international design.
