A brief annotation
An irrefutable masterpiece of Gothic art, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris receives more than 13 million visitors a year from around the world. This extraordinary building, which foundations date back to 1163, has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2013, to celebrate the 850th anniversary of its construction, the cathedral will receive a new set of bells including a bourdon. This anniversary has inspired Monnaie de Paris to pay its own tribute by issuing a coin dedicated to the cathedral. New technology has been developed to create a special «stained glass window» coin. The ?10 silver coin is enhanced with cold, translucent resin, reminiscent of the cathedral’s great rose window.
