Description of obverse and reverse
The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Beatrix in front of a world map of fingerprints as a matt layer on a shiny coin: a symbol for the collective ownership of the Dutch World Heritage and a worldwide symbol of Dutch culture.
On the back of the coin, the world map runs through what appears as the world. This side shows a hand-painted map of Amsterdam and displays the historical canal district according to the official UNESCO map.
A brief annotation
The coin shows a miniature map of the Amsterdam Canal district, and shows the World Map made by fingerprints. The Amsterdam Canals are 400 years old and part of the UNESCO world heritage. The coin features also the UNESCO logo, mintmarks.
