A brief annotation
The coin is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of participation of sportsmen fr om the territory of Latvia in the Olympic Games. Since the first participation (1912 in Stockholm wh ere the first ever Olympic medal was won by Haralds Blaus – bronze in clay pigeon shooting), the Latvian athletes have harvested 20 gold, 40 silver and 20 bronze medals in winter and summer Olympic Games. By dressing the ancient athletes depicted on the reverse in Latvian national costumes on the obverse, the coin is a friendly inducement to attain new and higher goals at the London 2012 Games.
