The obverse recalls one of the female figures holding a jug of Reményi’s work ‘The Daughters of Danaus’ (struck medal of bronze) in the form of a plaque. The portrait of Reményi in his later years is found on back of the coin.

József Reményi (1887-1977) Hungarian sculptor, one of the pioneers of Hungarian art of medal making of the 20th century, who raised this art to an artistic rank and gained international recognition.
