On the obverse appears a contemporary reinterpretation of Hercules by the engraver Joaquin Jimenez. On the reverse, the face value is featured in the center, surrounded by two branches – one oak and the other laurel – evoking the Euro symbol. The inscription “Liberté Egalité Fraternité” appears around the edge of the coin and the entire design is framed by a representation of the country’s hexagonal shape.

With the success of the Gold and Silver Euros series and in light expectations of numismatists in this regard, Monnaie de Paris decided to strike a silver premium coin: a 100? silver coin.
