The outer circle of the obverse bears the inscription in both Russian and Tajik «Commonwealth of Independent States» with «1991» and «2011» in between. The CIS emblem and the inscription «сол ХХ лет» (sol XX years) are placed in the centre of the coin. The outer circle on the reverse bears the inscription in both Tajik and Russian «Republic of Tajikistan». The inner circle of the coin features the state emblem and the flag of Tajikistan. The map of Tajikistan is depicted in the centre of the coin. The inscription of the denomination «100 somoni» is placed below. The surface of the inner circle is studded with stars of different sizes.
