The Good Shepherd masterpiece of Murillo was used in design of this coin. In this work appears the Baby Jesus in the biblical parable of the good shepherd, who grazes and cares for his sheep. This is a type of image of great success among Sevillian society of the time, whose devotional effectiveness has remained intact through the centuries. In them a wise and delicate style is combined with a friendly and sweet content.

Murillo was a Spanish Baroque painter, best known for his religious works. Murillo also produced a considerable number of paintings of contemporary women and children that constitute an extensive and appealing record of everyday life of his times. His painting developed into a polished style that suited the bourgeois and aristocratic tastes of the time, demonstrated especially in the religious works.
