Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse (same for all coins): on the upper side and on the right side of the coin there are inscriptions: “REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in
Armenian and English. Coat of Arms of the Republic of Armenia is placed in the right corner and the year of issue “2010” – in the left corner of the coin. The nominal value “1000 DRAM” is at the bottom. In the center there are symbolized images of “Annunciation” – a pigeon bringing the news of pregnancy to Virgin Mary, “Adoration of the Magi” – a star and the Child, “Entry into Jerusalem” – Jesus, surrounded with the palm leaves, and “Ascension” – Jesus with a cross.
Reverse:
– Annunciation: images of Virgin Mary and Gabriel Archangel who
informs Virgin Mary of her pregnancy and birth of Jesus Crist. On the upper right side and on the left side of the coin there are inscriptions “Annunciation” in Armenian and English.
– Adoration of the Magi: images of Virgin Mary and Child Jesus, and Magi paying worship and giving presents. On the upper right side and on the left side of the coin there are inscriptions “Adoration of the Magi” in Armenian and English.
– Entry into Jerusalem: an image of Jesus sitting on a donkey with his right hand up for blessing, behind are the followers and in front – inhabitants of Jerusalem welcoming him. On the upper right side and on the left side of the coin there are inscriptions “Entry into Jerusalem” in Armenian and English.
– Ascension: images of Jesus and angels who are taking him into the heaven. Jesus is sitting on the throne while keeping a roll in his left hand and blessing the followers by his right hand. On the upper right side and on the left side of the coin there are inscriptions “Ascension” in Armenian and English.

This series of coins depicts the Gospel scenes which are reflected in the medieval Armenian miniatures.
