Each design is based on the concerned region of France with a different graphic image on the obverse illustrating it. The name of the region borders the lower section of the coin and crowning the upper section is a graphic representation of the regional flag. The reverse of all 26 coins is identical – in the centre is the face value, surrounded by two branches, one being an oak and the other a bay, evoking the “E” in “Euro”. The entire image is framed by a collection of links representing the Hexagon, a symbol for France.

This year also marks the release of the second collection of Gold and Silver Euros devoted to regions – the “Regional Euros”. Focusing on a symbolic face value of 10 Euro silver, this series honours each region of France with their own corresponding coin. In total, 26 versions corresponding to 22 metropolitan regions and 4 overseas regions have been created.
