Description of obverse and reverse Obverse: The face value (2 New Sheqalim) and the face value as if reflected in the Dead Sea, the Israel State Emblem with the seven-branched candelabrum, "Israel" in English, Hebrew and Arabic. Below, to the left, the Hebrew letter "Mem" Mintmark. Reverse: The Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth, as viewed from a Satellite photograph. The Dead Sea is constantly drying up, due to the high evaporation rate in the hot desert climate and human activity in the region. Special costly projects are being planned by the Israelis, Jordanians and Palestinians, jointly, to bring water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea. A wild ibex, once an endangered species and representing the native wildlife of the area, stands on a nearby cliff.
A brief annotation The Dead Sea Coin features one of the natural wonders of the world and an intricate ecosystem that needs to be preserved for the future.
