Description of obverse and reverse Obverse: at the right bottom - rowan flowers; on the left side - the rowan leaf and the berry, much part of which is transferred to the reverse; in the center - a bunch of berries surrounded by stylized colored pattern; at the bottom - the nominal value “1000 DRAM”; along the upper and lower semicycles - inscriptions “REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA” in Armenian and English and the year of issue “2011”. Reverse: rowan flowers, berries and leaves; along the upper and lower semicycles - name of the rowan in Armenian and Latin and at the right bottom - “Ag 925”.
A brief annotation “Sorbus Hajastana” (Armenian Rowan) has been issued as a part of International Numismatic Program “The Beauty of Flowers”. Sorbus Hajastana is a beautiful shrub or tree. It is 8-10 m. tall. Flowers are white, anthers pink. Berries are large, shiny and crimson. Sorbus Hajastana blooms in June, on rocky slopes and forest edges at 1600-2400 m. above sea level. In Armenia it is met in the basin of the Lake Sevan and at slopes of the mountain Arai.
