A brief annotation The icon of Our Lady “Kazanskaya” was found in Kazan after the fire of 28th of June, 1579, when Our Lady appeared in a dream to a nine-year daughter of a merchant Onuchin – Matrona, saying that under the rubble of their house her miraculous icon was stored. The Our Lady took Matrona to the Archbishop of Kazan who tried to find the icon but failed. Then Matrona began to dig herself and immediately found the icon of extraordinary beauty. The icon was moved to the nearby church of St. Nicholas of Tula and then - to the Kazan Cathedral of the Annunciation. On the night of 29th of June, 1904, some robbers got into the church and stole the sanctity. To the present day the icon remains completely missed.
