Description of obverse and reverse At the top of the obverse there is a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the image of a small bird in palms, underneath – the year of issue and the alloy; along the circumference – the inscriptions: at the top - “РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ”; at the bottom – face value “10 РУБЛЁЎ”. In the central part of the reverse – a relief image of a big curlew (it was defined as a Bird of the Year in Belarus in 2011); along the circumference – the inscriptions: on the left – “ВЯЛІКІ КУЛЁН”, on the right – “ПТУШКА ГОДА”.
A brief annotation In 2011 the Big curlew was defined as a bird of the year by a public organization State bird protection. The specie was entered in the Red Book of Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Big curlew is one of the largest sandpipers of the Western Palearctic, body length 50-70 cm, wingspan 80-110 cm. The color of plumage is grey-brown with black mottles, a special feature – a light-colored underside of the wings, white back and rump, long legs and long beak curved down.
